Confessions of a Computer Program Hacker

As an independent Game developer, my Hacking skills were needed more than ever. First I needed to research a number of game engines to discover which would better serve the type of games I want to develop. I knew I wanted to develop adventure games. I had been playing adventure games ever since Sierra introduced the King's Quest series. I was impressed the growth of game GUI, story telling, and sophistication as I played each succeeding game. Too bad Sierra Jumped the Shark Tank with King's Quest 8.

My goal is to develop an adventure game with that sense of wonder I felt each time I played a new KQ game. I have been researching for about 12 months and working with my chosen game engine for about 8 months, Unity 3D.

Hacking will take on a new form for me here. I will do less code research in Unity 3D and more functionality research. Unity 3D already has a JavaScript interface for game activity and animation development, so my “hacking” will actually be outside the Unity 3D code itself and will more appropriately involve working with the traditional API's that Unity 3D provides.

I will need to rely upon other artists for voice, music, background, characters, and some programming as I continue to work on story development and puzzles which I will also require help with. In creating a successful game I will need a whole spectrum of Craftspeople to pull off what I hope will be a successful franchise of games that appeal to all ages.

Look for Booh and Babbot in The Haunted House Of Dracula, the first in their franchise game series. It is a work in progress.

You can now access the information that you will need within just a few clicks of your computer mouse and a few strokes of your computer keyboard. Furthermore, you are not just dealing a single library of information. In fact, the Internet contains more than the information capacity of all existing libraries in the world combined! That is how large the capacity of the Internet is in terms of holding information on various subjects of interest.

Because of the wide availability of the Internet, it is not just considered to be the information superhighway alone, but it is now one of the best business opportunities to start with. There are many jobless individuals who found themselves earning more than the salary of corporate executives. The Internet is flooded with hundreds of ways to earn hundreds, if not thousands of dollars every month. There you have Internet marketing, affiliate marketing, online advertising, online shopping, online auctions, and others. In fact, there are traditional business ventures that switched to Internet-based business, thus increasing their revenues by several percent more.

It is great to do business with the Internet. However, along with the growth of Internet-based businesses as well as the number of websites offering different online-based services come the growth of online threats and various disruptions that can bring Internet-based businesses to a halt. Strong viruses and self-destructing programs are circulating around the Internet, which is not beneficial for individuals and groups who rely on the Internet for their research and business activities.

With Bellsouth Internet security services, you are assured of a well-rounded business as well as research activities.

Computer and Internet Security Issues that you Should Know

Using your computer and a reliable Internet connection can be the best combination for an ideal business opportunity. You don’t need raise too much capital for your business venture. With just a reliable Internet connection and computer system (which, because of wide availability and usage, become cheaper), you will be able to start your business right away and earn hundreds to thousands of dollars every month, depending on the online business opportunity that you would prefer.

However, you must be aware of the miscalculations that you can commit along your online business venture, especially when you forget to prioritize the protection of your computer system from unauthorized use and data theft. Contrary to the popular belief that a small-size Internet business will make them safe from data hackers and online intruders, there is also a great risk and danger involved once you neglect to protect your computer system, especially the hacking and computer destruction activities that are increasing significantly as the Internet evolves over the years. Most small-time Internet entrepreneurs are blinded by the fact that they are not exempted from these notorious data thieves, which is not true nowadays.

According to a research conducted by AMI-Partners, almost 50 percent of small and medium-sized online businesses failed to execute even the most basic security protection, which includes the installation of anti-spyware and anti-virus programs to their computer systems. This is one of the main reasons why the Mydoom worm triumphed, affecting one out of three small and medium-sized online businesses compared to one out of six large Internet companies. This was also discovered by the ISA or the Internet Security Alliance, a non-profit organization that handles information security issues. In other words, we can conclude that even small online businesses are more vulnerable to online threats of data theft and electronic sabotage.

In fact, every small online business owner must give data and network protection more attention due to the sophistication of data thieves. These thieves have now one of the advanced software programs and hardware necessary to break into the security measures implemented by data mangers. It would be a great waste of time and financial resources if your computer is left unguarded against these advanced data thieves and online hackers. You are on the verge of losing everything—including your computer, which is also a valuable investment.

Thus, it is important that you should consider data security and encryption as one of your top priorities. Keep in mind that your computer system is always vulnerable to this kind of attacks, even if you are just starting up. In fact, big businesses have more chances to recover compared to small business since big business have necessary funds available to recover from mishap. On the other hand, your small business has meager funds to start with your business—and an attack will be catastrophic for your small business.

There are hundreds of software providers that came up with latest solutions to guarantee the safety of your computer system. In addition, there are also Internet security services to guarantee protection of your online data against Internet hackers. By incorporating high level of encryption technology, hackers will have a hard time intercepting the data being stored in your computer system or while it is transmitted to a certain network of computer systems.

Always explore your options. Prioritize what is important and avoid getting caught by a catastrophic incident that will shut down your small business at an instant.

Getting Free Internet Security for Your Computer

Surfing the Internet nowadays can be very dangerous. With all the viruses, spywares, adwares, identity thieves and hackers circulating for surfers to victimize, opening and downloading an attachment sent by your friend can be very scary.

This is why Internet security is a necessity in all computers to prevent yourself from getting victimized by people who wants to steal from you or from viruses programmed to destroy your important files.

Without protection, it would be like leaving the keys to your front door visible and letting anyone in and install spy cameras around your house without you even knowing about it. The same applies to your computer. Since all your files today are stored in your computer, such as financial and personal information, you wouldn’t want to let anyone take a peek in your computer.

While it is true that the internet can provide you with a lot of benefits, it is also a fact that the internet is also abused by certain people looking for a way to destroy your computer or steal from you by using your financial and personal information. This is why it is important for you to download Internet security software to enable you to put a lock in your computer and prevent different malicious programs and people from entering and gaining access to your computer.

Today, there is quite a number of software that offers Internet security available for download in the Internet. However, most of these software programs are for sale and you need to pay for it in order to get the full version of the program.

There are quite a few numbers of Internet security programs that are free. However, most of these programs are only in demo version and it has a specific trial period on how long you will be able to use the program. After the trial period expires, you will have to pay for the software program in order to continuously use it to protect your computer.

There are also free Internet security programs that offer unlimited uses. However, most of these programs only offer little features and minimum security for your computer. Usually, these programs only have a limited amount of virus definitions installed and are not able to block new viruses effectively.

Free Internet security programs can also be useful. It can serve as a temporary security program for your computer while you look for a different Internet security program to install in your computer.

So, if you still don’t have an internet security program installed in your computer or is still trying to find the best kind of internet security program, you can always download free versions of these programs to get you some protection for your computer. With this, you can be at least confident when you are surfing the Internet.

Always remember that free Internet security programs should only serve as a temporary fix until you find a good Internet security program to install in your computer.

Once you find a good Internet security program, you can always uninstall the free Internet security program and install your preferred Internet security program that offers maximum protection from viruses, malware, spyware, hackers and identity thieves.

So, if you are still looking for a program that offers complete protection from malicious software programs but you want to surf the Internet, this doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to surf the Internet naked. Try and install free versions of Internet security programs to at least give you some protection.

Watch Out for eBay Automobile and Computer Scams.

There aren't that many scammers on eBay - but the ones there are tend to be greedy. This means that they will always try to pull their scams on high-value items like cars and computers, so that they can make a lot of money quickly. Since buyers generally buy these items very rarely, they may not know about the various scams out there.

Automobile Scams.

With cars, you will generally find that scammers try to get you to send them money in advance, for whatever reason. For some reason, some people aren't all that reluctant to pay 50% or 25% of the money before delivery using a relatively insecure payment method, especially on a car. They reason that the seller will obviously deliver it, as they'll want the other half of the money.

But there never was a car! Pictures of cars aren't hard to find, and the experienced scammers will have a whole library of pictures of different cars. The seller just got your $5,000 for nothing, and you can leave them all the negative feedback you like. They'll just go and open another eBay account and find their next sucker.

While it's not an outright scam, what you might find is that the car does turn up, but simply doesn't live up to the description - it has been oversold, in the tradition of used car dealers through the ages. If this happens to you then you should open an eBay dispute and say your item was not as described - you might get a partial refund.

Computer Scams.

If you bid in a computer auction but don't win, the seller might email you to ask whether you would like to buy a computer the same as the one they just sold through their own website.

This is a bad idea! You have no guarantee that the item will ever arrive, and you haven't just given them your money - you've given them your credit card details too.

There are sellers with nothing but positive feedback who use this scam often - and since you won't be able to leave them any feedback on the transaction, their reputation will stay that way. If you complain to eBay that you bought an item outside the site and got scammed, they will tell you to get lost and not do it again.

How to Beat the Scams.

There are lots of ways to beat the scams. First, whenever you buy anything expensive, be sure to check your seller's reputation thoroughly. Make sure they have sold items of a similar high value before, and haven't just sold a string of $10 items to get their feedback rating artificially high. If you want to be even more cautious, insist that the money is placed in an escrow service (eBay recommend escrow.com - don't use any other service unless you're sure of it).

To be honest, it's generally quite a bad idea to use eBay to buy things like cars and computers to begin with - you can get them anywhere, and the discounts aren't that big any more. It's better to use eBay for those rare, special things that you can't find anywhere else. The next email will give you some tips for buying collectibles.

Google Adsense: Computer Knowledge and Direct Deposit

Do I Need to be Computer Savvy to Use Google Adsense?

You don’t have to be a techno-geek to use Google Adsense. In fact, you don’t need any more technical knowledge than you do to surf the web. Google Adsense is very user-friendly with a comprehensive support site to answer any question you might have.

You are first walked through the sign-up process where you are prompted for any and all information needed. You will then have a couple of days while you are waiting for your account to be approved. This would be a good time to familiarize yourself with the program policies, which of course you read before you signed up. But look again. Make sure the site you are registering doesn’t have any of the no-nos listed. For instance, some profanity is allowed, but nothing excessive. What is excessive? That could be a gray area, but if you’re in doubt, don’t register that site. There’s plenty of sites with little or no profanity.

Look at the support site while you are waiting on Google Adsense and see what other’s are saying and doing. Most of all, have fun. Your Google Adsense dollars are just waiting to be counted.

Does Google Adsense Offer Direct Deposit?

Google adsense offers various payment options for publishers.

Electronic Funds Transfer (ETF) is offered in 16 countries whereby your payments are deposited directly into your bank account in your local currency. Check Google Adsense support to see which countries participate in this option. You will need to sign up for this option after your application is approved by signing into your account. You then click the edit link adjacent to the payment header. After you fill out the bank information, Google Adsense will make a small test deposit into your account. This is for security purposes to assure the account is really your own.

Watch your account for the test deposit to post, usually within just a few days. After you have received the deposit from Google, log back in to your account and in the Payment Details section, click Verify Account. You then will need to enter the amount of the test deposit. If you do not complete this step, your payments will be on hold. Once you enter the test deposit amount correctly, your bank will be approved and selected as your form of payment.

Computer Speed Performance Tips Tricks How to make your computer run smokin fast

Uninstall anything you don't need...

(But before you do that, make a Backup of your computer first! This is VERY Important!!)

When was the last time you bought a computer that was not loaded to the gills with all kinds of bells and whistles?? Never, cause they don't put em on the shelf unless they have at least 150 programs installed!!!

It is it a very good idea to remove anything you don’t need from your computer, Why? Because some things (most) on your computer have “Processes” that run in the back ground and consume your "CPU" and "RAM" RESOURCES and that is not necessary sometimes... (most times!)

Removing all the extra programs from my client’s computers is one of the first things I do to help improve ? speed and ? performance.

yep yep, nothing better than removin a bunch of what is usually referred to as bloat-ware!

But the question is: What do you remove? How do you know if it is safe to remove? Almost everyone I know tells me they have no idea what is safe to remove… and how would you know right? One good thing to remember is “Windows” will not let you uninstall CRITICAL SYSTEM FILES.

The first thing to do is write down every program you use for the next couple of weeks so you get an idea of what you are using. This will not take very much time at all. Do it.... you will be much happier with your PC when you are done!

How do you know what to write down? When you have a program open, Look in the top left area of the window of the program that you have open and that is called the “Title Bar” and that will be the name that you will want to write down for your list of programs that you use! (See my "Title Bar Image Example" image below) if by chance there is no title bar look for the Help word or Question Mark and inside there you can find out the specs and name and version of the program.

Title Bar Image Example: ((This is "Magic ISO Maker"))(Remember Back Up Your Computer Before Uninstalling Anything!!)

Next go into the Control Panel and in:

? Windows XP look for ? “Add or Remove Programs” and click on it…

? Windows Vista and Windows 7 look for ? “Programs” and click on it and then in the next window under the words “Programs and Features” look for “Uninstall a program”

And spend 5 or 10 minutes looking through everything you have installed on your computer. If you are not sure what something is for, use Google and type “what is Magic ISO Maker v5.4 (build 0239)” (See my image below) How would you know what this is unless you were a computer techie right! Anyways use Google to try and figure out what it is for and if you have never used it, then you most likely don’t need it installed so why not remove it. If you are really uncertain if it is safe to remove ask someone at a computer store like Best Buy or call your favorite local computer store! They will tell you if you can remove it. those stores are full of geeks, so they will be able to help you decide.

Add or Remove Programs Image Example: ((Look at the first name Magic ISO Maker v5.4 (build 0239) do you use it? if not, uninstall it))“Processes” that run in the back ground:

How many "Processes" do you have running?

Too many and your computer will slow way down...

? Uninstall more programs and the running "Processes" will decrease!!! ?

How many running "Processes" are too many? around 45 to 50 is OK for Windows XP, 50 to 55 is OK for Windows Vista and 7... More than that and you need to work on getting this under control!

How do you find out how many are running?

FIRST - Close all your programs you have open,

THEN - mash down on the: ? CTRL ? ALT ? DELETE keys on your keyboard!!! This will give you the "Windows Task Manager", or one of your options will be to choose the Task Manager, any ways launch the Task Manager however you go about gettin her up and runnin, like the image below :)

Keep an eyeball on your running processes every month or anytime your system slows down, you will get used to what should be there and you should notice something weird or unusual and you can then try and figure out why it is there and maybe remove it. (remember Google is your friend with this task too).

Look at the lower left corner (See Image Below) and you will see how many Processes are running, 45 to 55 are OK, more is not good...Never Ever use a computer without an Anti-Virus Program installed... Never Never!!!

You can live without a Third Party - Firewall, but not an Anti-Virus. If you have viruses your computer will move like a turtle... be mostly useless... cause your head to explode... give you heartburn... all the things that will make you die early.........

Here is a good article telling you all about Security Software for your computer! pay close attention to the Anti-Virus section!!!

Make sure your Anti-Virus Program is always up to date and do a full system scan a couple times a month so you keep your system clean.

Make sure you have a Spyware / Malware scanning program installed to help catch the junk that your Anti-Virus program might miss, See the above article!

Choose an Anti-Virus and Firewall that don't consume all your resources, yep you guessed it, See the above article!!!Turn off Indexing for your Hard Drive

If you have Windows "Index" your entire hard drive it slows your computer down and uses a lot of space to index that data! there is no need for this feature to be on, you will have a very hard time telling the difference either way

You can't tell the difference in the search speed with it on or off unless you go buy a really nice stop watch and test it both ways!!! and besides how often do you search for things on your computer? not very often so the trade off is worth turnin "Indexing" OFF!!

How do your turn off indexing you ask? well let me tell you!!!

--> Open "My Computer", (go into the "start menu" to find your computer or my computer, what ever she is called!) then "right click" on the hard drive (usually named "Local Disk (C:)") and choose "Properties", Make sure the "General Tab" is selected and at the bottom of the window that opened, take the "check-mark" out of: "Allow Indexing Service to index this disk for faster searching".

And yet another cool Power User Tweak is about to be set for your computer, how cool is that!

(See Image below)Disable Hibernation on your Computer

This is a HUGE resource HOG, and why in the world would you want to do that to your poor computer, they have enough trouble running Windows without completely unnecessary things running like: hibernation!!! just so you can save 20 seconds on how fast it reloads Windows from a dead sleep? That’s the only advantage to having it on! seriously!!

It takes up gig's and gig's of hard drive space to save you that 20 seconds of load time, I have seen it consume 40 or 50 gig's in Windows Vista and 7! Really Microsoft, come on!!!

This is one of M.S's stupidest things they have ever offered to the user, it is the very first thing I do every time I touch a computer, TURN IT OFF!

For Windows Vista and 7, follow these steps: (Pay close attention to the spaces in what you are suppose to type or it won't work) better yet COPY & PASTE!!!

1. Click Start, and then type: cmd in the Start -> Search box.

2. In the search results list, right-click "cmd.exe", (see image below) and then left click on "Run as Administrator" in the context menu that will pop open!

3. When you are prompted by "User Account Control" window that may or may not pop up , click "Continue".

4. At the command prompt, type: powercfg.exe /hibernate off and then mash on the "ENTER" key on your keyboard!

5. Type: exit insied the Command Prompt window and then mash the "ENTER" key again to close the Command Prompt window.

Copy this: powercfg.exe /hibernate off

(See Image Below)Below... it is important that you add a space after powercfg.exe ? and after hibernate ? or this will NOT work! For Windows XP, follow these steps:

1. Click "Start", and then click on "Control Panel."

2. In the Control Panel click "Power Options."

3. In the window that opens mash on the "Hibernate Tab."

4. Take the stupid check-mark out of "Enable hibernation."

5. Yeaaaa, yet another Power User Tweak almost done!!!

(See Image Below, Again!)Buy a second hard drive and put ALL your personal files on it!

That will leave the Original Local Disk (C:) hard drive file system free from all your stuff, think about it, if you fill up your garage or say maybe your kitchen with stuff you can't get around, it is very hard to find anything, that is what Windows is feeling too! so give her, (Windows, all the space and freedom you possible can and she will run better, faster, longer and stronger!) this is a really wise investment in your sanity let me tell you!!! most hard drives are around $100 bucks.

The next super great advantage is if and when Windows crashes all your stuff is already separated and contained on another disk :) and you wont have to worry about it at all!Format and Reinstall every 2 or 3 years

Crazy idea but I promise you there is no better fix for a slow computer, and I have tried everything anyone on the internet has ever recommended!!!

There is no magic software fix that will touch this technique.

And since you already got a second hard drive and put all your files there it is not a big deal!System Restore is the next biggest waste of time and system resource hog MS ever came up with!

I have tried to use it to fix Windows problems at least 1500+ times and MAYBE 5 times it has actually worked! That is the truth!!

? ? Remember you gotta make a GOOD BACK UP of your computer before you do any of my suggestions ? ?

How to turn off System Restore?

For Windows XP:

1. Click Start, and then click on Control Panel.

2. In the Control Panel click System.

3. Inside the window that opens, top left area click the System Restore Tab.

4. Inside this window in the left upper area (Below the tabs...) look for a small box without a check-mark.

5. Put a check-mark in the small square box next to "Turn off System Restore".

6. Click OK and Windows will warn you and ask you are you sure? Mash down on the yes button as fast as possible!!!

7. Click Apply, Click OK, and Click Yes several times to finish up and restart your computer if asked.

For Windows Vista & 7:

1. Click Start, and then click on Control Panel.

2. In the Control Panel click System.

3. Inside the huge window that opens, top left area, click the Advanced system settings.

4. Inside the window that opens, top area, click the System Protection Tab.

5. Look at the lower area under Protection Settings and click on the drive that you want to turn off.

6. Then look lower right more for the Configure... button and click it.

7. In the new window that opens choose Turn off system protection, and of course Windows will freak out and have a coronary but go ahead and Mash down on the yes button as fast as possible anyways!!!

8. Click Apply, Click OK, and Click Yes several times to finish up and restart your computer if asked.Tweak your Advanced Display Settings that you will never miss and don't need!

For Windows XP:

1. Click Start, and then click on Control Panel.

2. In the Control Panel click System.

3. Inside the window that opens, (Below) top right area, click the Advanced Tab.

4. Then just below is the Performance Box area.

5. Click on the Settings Button in this section. In the new window that opens, (Below) make sure the Visual Effects Tab is selected.

Then un-check all the little square boxes for everything but the last 4!

4. Inside the window that opens, (Below) top area, click the Advanced Tab.And in the Window that opens, (Which is NOT below!!!!) Which is just like in XP... do almost the same thing for Windows 7 or Vista!

I would play around with these as there is more specialized options in Windows 7 or Vista, But most options can be turned off.

Turn everything off that you can and still get the desired look your after!

Contact me if you have any problems, I will try to help you :) PCTechSupportHelp.com

Have fun with these tweaks, they will help :)

Bada Boom, Bada Bing, your done!!!

Why is my computer restarting Some handy tips and tricks to deal with a troublesome PC

You were happily writing your school paper, playing a videogame, or doing some other task when poof!-- your computer suddenly decided to restart.

You allowed it to boot up again and hoped that it would no longer happen. But sure enough-- like clockwork-- it now keeps restarting again and again and again.

What on earth is going on? Is your computer finally on its last leg?

Believe it or not, no. When a computer restarts, it's usually because of a surprisingly minor issue that's easily fixable. So if you're currently experiencing this problem and worrying that it means that you have to buy a new computer, don't. Your machine may be suffering from any one of the following resolvable issues:Cause one: overheating

Probably the most common and likely cause of a restarting computer is overheating. That is to say, for some reason or other the inside of your computer keeps rising to a nice and toasty level-- nice enough to make some s'mores in, but very bad for your components. When things get a little too hot to handle, your computer restarts as a protective measure.

A tell-tale clue that your computer is overheating is if it keeps shutting off during a program that consumes a lot of resources (like a video game). Another tell-tale sign is that your computer seems to keep restarting after a set period of time (for example, always 20-30 minutes from when you first power it on).

What can you do if you suspect that overheating is the problem? Try the following:

1. Check for dust clogging air vents in your case

One way that computers keep cool is through the use of air vents. When these air vents get clogged with dust, this prevents cool air from circulating back into the case. Check to see if your case needs a good cleaning, then clear out any clogged vents.

2. Check for dust clogging your fans

Fans are another way to keep your computer nice and cool. If too much dust collects on them, they may stop spinning. To check for any malfunctioning fans, take off your side panel and run your computer briefly to look for any that no longer seem to spin.

If you find one, turn off your computer completely, unplug it, and blow or brush away any heavy dust from the non-spinning fan. Then start your computer up again. If the fan starts spinning, great-- you've solved your problem! If not, go to the next step:

3. Check for dead fan

If the non-spinning fan still isn't working after you brushed away any dust, check its plug and make sure that it's pressed firmly into your mobo. If it still fails to spin afterwards, it's definitely no good and you'll have to replace it.

4. Check thermal paste (for DIYers)

If you built your own computer, maybe the thermal paste you applied has dried out. Check to see if that indeed is the caseCause two: faulty device driver or hard disk error

Drivers are what allow your hardware to interface with your computer. Without the proper drivers, nothing would really work-- not your printer, your sound, your internet connection, or any other important computer feature.

Sometimes for whatever reason, you may wind up with a bad or faulty driver. When it malfunctions, your computer will restart to protect this driver from screwing up the rest of your system.

Another thing that can cause a computer restart is a faulty hard disk. When your hard drive starts coughing up errors, the same thing happens as with a faulty driver. Your computer will then immediately shut off and restart to prevent any further damage being done to your system.

If your computer is restarting, how can you know whether it's one of these issues (driver vs hard drive) that's behind it?

1. The first tell-tale sign is a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death). Seeing one of these is almost certainly a sign that this is either a hard drive or driver issue.

2. A more direct sign is the message Windows gives you right after you reboot. You will usually see a web page from Microsoft (called "The Windows Reporting Screen") informing you that either a hard drive or faulty device driver has caused your system to shut down.

Okay, great, now what?

Research error message

To drill down the exact cause of your restart, you can write down the error message you're getting from the BSOD and then research it online. But first you'll have to get around the problem of the BSOD zipping past your eyes faster than you can see it. To prevent this from happening, you can do this:

1. Go to the My Computer icon on your desktop

2. Right click and choose Properties

3. Click the Advanced tab

4. Look for "Settings and Recovery"

5. Click Settings

6. Then uncheck "Automatically Restart"

What will happen now is that whenever you get a BSOD, it will remain long enough for you to read what's on the screen. Jot down whatever message you see and do a search. Provided it's not an obscure issue, nine times out of ten you'll discover what the cause behind the restart is, as well as how to fix it.Cause Three: Virus or Malware

Could our old friend, Mr. Virus, be the cause of all our restarting problems? Perhaps! If you've determined that neither overheating or a disk/ driver failing is the issue, run a virus and malware scan. Something may have just snuck onto your system without you being aware of it.Cause Four: Bad RAM

Installing the wrong type of RAM can create an error that causes your computer to restart. So can a failing stick in RAM. To see whether faulty memory is the problem, test your current sticks by removing one at a time or swapping them out with any other sticks you have lying around.Cause Five: Power Supply Unit

The Power Supply Unit is a metal box inside your computer that supplies it with the necessary juice to turn it on. If it malfunctions, it will cause a computer to restart. To check if the PSU is the problem, you'll have to swap the one you have installed in your machine with another one to see of the restarting problem persists.

If your computer no longer restarts after the swap, then you'll know for sure that your PSU was the problem all along. If, however, your computer still restarts, then you'll have to figure out which one of the aforementioned causes in this hub might be behind the issue.

Internet And Computer Security Guide

In perfect business opportunities, a computer and good functioning internet connection is the best. The needed investment isn't that great for this kind of business. All you need is a steady internet connection and a computer. Computers become cheap because of endless supplies. No hassles of when to start your business as you can start right away and earn lots of bucks in a month, depending on the scale of your business.

You have to consider that there are other negative factors that can affect your business. One of the most important to consider is the security it has against various online threats. As we may know small type business face less threats against hackers, but they can also be vulnerable to determined infiltrators especially the internet world is slowly evolving nowadays. Present entrepreneurs that use the internet as a medium for their business are not careful enough to consider the risk done by internet threats to their business as time goes by.

Results on research done by AMI-Partners show that internet-using non-large businesses failing to comply basic security measures on their business comprise to about 50 percent of the total non-large online businesses. Some of this include inadequate anti-spyware softwares installed on their computers as well as anti-virus programs. One time Mydoom worm virus successfully infiltrated three medium-sized business using the internet. Mydoom worm virus could not infiltrate bigger internet-using companies that time. This was discovered by the Internet Security Alliance (ISA), a non-profit group that handles data security reports by users. This means that no matter how small a business is, it can still be affected by certain threats in the internet.

This marks that every internet-using business should think about giving their best in putting barriers in their computers against different online threats. Data infiltrators are using new and powerful softwares to hack even small online businesses. So it would be a waste of your resources including your computer if you don't give a time to put security measures in your computer. You could slowly lose everything in your online business and could start again with nothing.

First thing you should consider in setting up online businesses is to put security softwares. This should be the one to keep in mind before putting up anything on your computer. Take note that its hard to recover when your just starting out. Bigger online companies recover faster or instantly because of the funds they have. Another thing is that its really hard to start when the hindrance is just around the corner. So never forget even smaller online businesses are affected by these threats right away.

A lot of software makers have came up with a solution to combat different types of these threats. Another option is to hire an Internet security service to setup a very nice security measure like firewall around the physical network of your business venture. They can install multi-level security that are hard to surpass and intercept by hackers. Hackers steal information from your computer. Putting a nice barrier or boundary can make them think twice of getting into your units.

Expand your horizons and know what protection is best for your computers. Know what is important and avoid incidents that can put you in surprise as to what happened why something bad is happening in your computers.

Computer Hacking And Its Impact On Our Lives

In recent years, we hear more and more about the threat of computer hacking. This is linked to the increase in the number and power of computers, as well as the development of the Internet. As computers have proliferated into every corner of our lives, so their potential for good or ill has increased in a way that would have been unimaginable even twenty years ago. In addition, the Internet has made it far easier for a hacker to gain illegitimate access to a computer, and to share techniques with other hackers.

Back in the Seventies, only large organisations owned computers: individuals and small businesses owned calculators at best. With the advent of the affordable personal computer, everything changed. Now, non-specialists have access to more computing power than was used to put men on the Moon. With this quantum leap in technology has come a corresponding ratcheting up of the stakes. So much of our everyday information now depends on computers that if that data were to be stolen or corrupted through "cybercrime", then the consequences would have a significant impact on our lives. For example, carrying out online banking transactions, or filing a tax return online, might carry a risk of identity theft or even loss of the money in a bank account, if the website security has been compromised.

Hacking into a computer used to be a technically demanding speciality, but nowadays many of the easier "hacks" can be performed automatically using readily-available software. The people who do this (known as "script kiddies") may have negligible technical skills, but their sheer numbers make them a threat in aggregate. At the same time, the more skilled of the computer hackers are able to carry out crimes that, at the time, there is not yet any defence against. This means that computer hacking is a very real threat for anyone who uses a computer, or whose information is stored on a computer somewhere. In an economically advanced country, this means everyone.

The motivation of computer hackers can vary. Some of them are driven by sheer intellectual curiosity, eager to test their technical skills by penetrating the defences of another computer. Once they have succeeded, they generally cause little or no damage, and content themselves with boasting about their exploits on Internet forums. A few "crackers" may be driven by animosity towards a person or an organisation (e.g. a disgruntled ex-employee), and will restrict any damage to the target of their efforts. Others, however, are more dangerous. They may be working for themselves or for organised crime, but in both cases their goal is to gain access to resources that can be used to steal money (such as credit card details). These are the criminals who are pursued by official high-tech crime agencies.

In summary, the threat of computer hacking is growing all the time, and nobody can consider that they are safe from hackers. Even the most harmless hacker will cause a little disruption to a computer system, while the most dangerous hackers can potentially cause major damage, not only to a computer but to people's wealth and welfare.

Invisible File Computer Trick

Creating an Invisible File

An invisible file is a fun and useful tool for anyone. You can use it to hide important files that only you are permitted to see. You may also create one for the fun of it. Either way I know that it will benefit you in your life. The creating process is a fairly easy task, although some may find it hard to delete. I learned this task not too long ago, and I hope this will be helpful for you. I will teach you how to create an invisible file, how to delete this invisible file, and how to make it visible.

To Create an Invisible File

1.) Go on your main desktop screen, right click, scroll down to view, and select folder

2.) Once your folder appears right click again and scroll down to rename

3.) Hold down the buttons FN and ALT at the same time while typing mjom (not capitalized)(note some computers work with 0160, if so apply the same buttons, but instead of typing in mjom type 0160). It will look like you typed nothing than unselect the file. When you do this it should be blank, except for the folder showing.

4.) Than right click and scroll down to properties. Hit on the "Customize" tab.

5.) You than should choose "Change Icon"

6.) Than scroll through the Icons until you see a few blank patches in the icon selection.

7.) Than select one of those blank spots. Hit ok, than exit back to the properties menu.

8.) Hit apply, than exit.

9.) Your file should become invisible.

Congratulations! You've made an invisible file!

Deleting an Invisible File

You will notice you cannot delete this file while it’s invisible. This is where it can become tricky for some people.

1.) Pull up your start menu

2) Type in the search CMD. (command prompter)

3.) A small black screen should pop up. Next to where is shows words make a space than type cd desktop , than hit enter

4.) Than next to that type rename, than type "mjom" (when you type mjom hold down FN and ALT, but not when you type the parenthesis) it should look like this when you are done typing it " ", than make a space and type the new name you want it to be without parenthesis

5.) Hit enter. Than exit out of the command prompter screen (CMD). Look at your desktop screen and you should notice that the invisible now has a visible file name.

6.) Than you can delete the file.

Converting an Invisible file to Visible

1.) Repeat all the steps for deleting the invisible file except for step 6.

2.) Than after renaming the file in a visible form, just right click scroll down to properties

3.) Select the "customize" tab hit

4.) Hit “Change Icons” and pick any icon you like.

5.) Hit apply than exit to the properties menu, exit from that

6.) Look at your desktop and you should see an Icon and your new file name

Congratulations you’ve just learned how to create an invisible file, delete it, and convert it back to a visible file! I hope that this computer trick is helpful!

Training To Be An Ethical Computer Hacker

The fraudulent hacking of computers has always been one of great concern; now however, because computer crime has grown to such an extent, there is a special hacker-training course for the purpose of training professional hackers for combating it. The large corporations now find it necessary to keep cyber hacking staff for twenty-four hour observation of anyone trying to break in to their computer networks with fraudulent unethical intentions. This is essential to avoid the disabling of the computers by viruses from the criminal hacking methods and the extraction and spreading of classified and other information for use on other foreign computers.

Certified Ethical Hacker Training (CEH)

This intensive course of hacker training or boot camps, specifically prepare the candidates to be able to pass the EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker exam 312-50. A course that has now been added to the DOD 8570 Directive. This particular course prepares and provides the students with the tools and intrinsic knowledge of enabling them capable of protecting and understanding critical situations that can arise from computer hacking by unauthorized outside sources. Instructors train them with several of the tools that a hacker can use, and they further learn which countermeasures are most effective.

At the completion of a course, the pupils are ready for the EC-Council Certified Hacker exam. Cyber hacking is recognised worldwide as a very viable career, for the prevention of intruders to high profile computer systems. Fraudulent hackers use every possible means known for entering the networks they want information from, especially forcing an entry and using the means of a virus. Once in, they can extract any data that they require for their illegal use and operation, without anyone noticing until it is too late. For this reason, the introduction of certified ethical hacker training became added to the specialized computer-training courses.

Viruses

As a virus or for that matter viruses, can be transmitted to other computer systems without their hosts being aware of their entry, and, having the capability of disabling their codes and systems very quickly, causing an unnecessary amount of unproductive time to be spent on the ridding of these unwanted worms. For this reason, corporations employ ethical hackers of their own to prohibit these unethical entries from occurring. Professional hackers are equipped to handle these situations, having undergone the specialized hacker training, and so ensuring that the computer systems that they are operating, are as secure and protected, as is possible.

Safeguarding cyber hacking

The professional hackers, specializing in maximum security of the computers, having passed the certified ethical hacker training course, use similar equipment for protecting their systems, as do the fraudsters who wish to enter the websites for their own means. It is imperative for the professionals with their hacker training, to keep up to date knowledge for safeguarding the infrastructure of their computers as a daily routine, to protect and insure that illegal entry is impossible.

Large corporations and big businesses alike, government, other law enforcement agencies and criminal forensic laboratories, all employ the use of hacking professionals as part of their personnel. This becomes a crucial factor with the potential evidence concerning various criminal case prosecutions, and equally important for computer specialists in the field of forensics to have the ability at various times to think like the criminal hacker does. However, the professional hackers with their Computer Forensics Training are alert and quickly able to deal with any form of unusual situation that problematically arises with regard to their data and website.

Today, no large business or conglomeration can afford not to have some specialized personnel proficient with hacker training in their IT department to combat and prevent unauthorized entry to their computers.

How to Download Any Sound that Plays From Your Computer

This simple trick allows you to capture any audio that comes out of the headphone out of your computer, regardless of whether there is download feature enabled. These instructions are written for Mac and GarageBand, but the same principle applies for Windows.

Essentially, the trick is to use a cable to route sound coming from your headphone out into your line in, and record it using your preferred recording software. (GarageBand in this case.)

Step 1: Find a short cable with an 1/8 inch male connector on both ends.

Step 2: Plug one end into your computer’s headphone out; plug the other end into your computer’s line in.

Step 3: Open garageband and create a new “Loops” project.

Step 4: Create a Real Instrument Track

Step 5: Turn off the metronome (Control>Metronome), click record, and then play the audio you wish to record.

Step 6: After the audio has finished playing, you can export the captured audio to iTunes: Share>Send to iTunes

If it doesn’t work check the following:

The recording level for the track is turned up.

Your Computer’s Volume is Turned up

Audio Input is set to “Built-in Input” (Garageband>Preferences> Audio/MIDI)
