After a comment on this hub enticed me to explain the relevance of CPC and Competition when using Google Adwords Tools, I decided to give it a bit of an explanation within the hub, as I am aware that many do not read through all the comments and responses.
A quick explanation of what 'Competition' is in relation to Adwords is; a generalized idea of how MANY advertisers are bidding on a particular search term. The CPC of a search term has little to do with the competition of a term, but more so relevance and quality of the search term. The below two Snip-its show this. The first is organized by competition and the second by CPC.
As a final tip to using Google Adwords Keyword Tool (Keyword Density Tool) to help select relevant keyword for your content, let me say that you should NOT base your selection off of one of these factors alone. This tool allows you to see what your target audience is searching for, so you are not aiming in the dark and hoping for the best. Consider the options available by considering the competition, the number of searches, and the relevance and significance of your content to the search term you are optimizing for.
