Installous 5 Problems In iOS 6 Try These Installous Alternatives

Update: Installous has been shutdown, with the team at Hackulo.us deciding to call it a day. With Installous gone, users cannot install IPA files from the app anymore. Note that even the repo is now dead and you'll have to rely on other alternatives.

But Installous has got quite a lot of alternatives. There have been successful ones like AppCake+ and vShare about which you can read here. Interestingly, if you are willing to dig deeper, there's i-Funbox, a Mac/Windows based client which will let you access your iPhone's file system.Compatibility

Unfortunately, Installous is not listed as an iOS 6-compatible Cydia tweak yet. The developers are currently working to get Installous to be compatible with iOS 6 but then, as stated before, some of the users have already tasted success in installing and running Installous. However, we also have come to know from various forum discussions that Installous 5 is not working on iOS 6 for many iPhone users.

The Direct IPA download method is one of the often-recommended approaches to getting cracked apps on your iPhone. It's again a hit-or-miss because we've seen equal number of people who have successfully downloaded cracked apps and who have reported that the method doesn't work.

But it's worth a try and the best part is, you wouldn't have to jailbreak your iPhone for this.

To do this:

Visit apptrackr.cd and download the IPA file of the app

Open the IPA app (it should open in iTunes). If not, drag-and-drop the file into iTunes

Now, connect your iPhone and sync

The app should show up on your iPhone

Although the method sounds simple enough, it has a very thin chance of working flawlessly.The iFile Method

Note: This method does not work anymore. We're hoping that in case Installous comes back again due to peer pressure and requests, this would be relevant then.

A strange but quick way of getting Installous to work on iOS 6 came up on forums and at other places. This again is one of those methods which might work for you without any guarantee of success. But it's worth trying.

To do this:

- Open Cydia and install “iFile” and “ReSpring”

- Uninstall Installous & AppSync if you've already got them on your iPhone

Search for “AppSync” in Cydia

Tap on the one that has a tick mark

Tap on Modify

And then on Remove

Now, open Mobile Safari

- Navigate to 'http://cydia.hackulo.us'

- Download appsync50plus (2.2) and installous (5.0.3-1)(both appear as .deb files)

- Now, after they're downloaded, open appsync50plus through iFile. Unzip and install it.

- ReSpring the dashboard by opening “ReSpring” app

- Again, open, unzip and download Installous.deb

- ReSpring again and try to open Installous now

- Test to check if you are able to download cracked apps from Installous nowDowngrade

Note: This method does not work anymore. We're hoping that in case Installous comes back again due to peer pressure and requests, this would be relevant then.

If you are a very persistent Installous user, you might feel crippled without the program. Under such cases, there is only one option left if the above methods don't work.

Downgrading your firmware from iOS 6 to iOS 5.1.1 may not be in the bes interests of being up-to-date in the mobile world, but if running Installous is more important to you, you'll have to choose to downgrade.

If you downgrade to iOS 5.1.1, you can then run Installous 5 easily without any issues of crashes or unresponsiveness.
